Nous avons aussi croisé un lynx;
- Proverbe Finlandais -
3 and a half months of canoeing in Finland in complete autonomy with a drone and a small incursion in Russia which has earned us from being removed from our freedom by Finnish rangers ...
However, we have met so many caring, kind and inquisitive people that we view this trip as a gift of life.
We also crossed a lynx;
Without images of the feline, we wouldn't have said anything !
From mid-May to the end of July we traveled more than 1200 km of canoe and enjoyed a hundred kilometers of portages through national parks, from huge lakes to tiny rivers to mesmerizing marshes.
Until the meeting of a Finnish family that will upset the course of our journey, its purpose and also a little of our life.
The month of August took place around a cabin / sauna at the edge of a lake, which has been lent to us for no time and to which we can return as we wish !
The stranger is our brother; The man who has come a long way is our parent.

This is the day that will take us to Oravi to get the other half of the food.
We have 3 days ahead of schedule and we will end up with a maximum load.
We lost some of the images including those of Marie-Louise who welcomed us with kindness and kept our food.
We would like to pay tribute to him since it has never been so easy to trust someone: when we arrived in May to ask him to give us the service to keep our food ... She just answered " yes "and the logistical problem was solved in 3 minutes!

We always bring food and drink for the people who render us this service,it also lets them hear that we are not there just to rely on others.

The Linnansaari region is full of islands and islets and as it is a national park, all the bivouacs are listed. A real form of paradise for canoe / kayaks but also for sailboats. In winter everything is frozen.
The smallest portage in the world! We thought it was happening but we had not zoomed in on the GPS. No need for the cart: it slips well on the passage of animals.
We sail between the islets to get away from the wind.
It's a dynamic day with a motivating goal,
but we know perfectly well that we will have to tighten everything up in the canoe: we are at the end of June and our load has been considerably lightened,
and this allows us to have more space to store our stuff without having to pack everything like sardines.
We must come back for the next two weeks to a meticulous organization, without margins and in which everyone does not find his pleasure.
When we refuel food, we must also store his head in the same way, otherwise we do not know where is stored what we seek.
"Oravivillage" proposes activities all the year round, it is enough to note the multitude of activities which they propose on their site, summer as winter: www.oravivillage.com, obviously there is also accommodation. The canoe is visible on the pictures ... Oueskilélecanoe !?
It is also a region known for harboring freshwater seals in its waters and as we have not managed to take pictures, we will not say that we have seen one! We also took the time to make videos of the place with the drone and we offered them to Marie Louise who will use them for their advertising. www.oravivillage.com

It is amazing to see how much Finnish people benefit from these infrastructures that offer nature on a plateau,
besides, throughout this trip we met only Finns !
As far as the eye can see, there are only islands in this image and it will serve as a bivouac.
We meet there Juha, Finnish in boat with his dog Kyllikki. The reception is always benevolent: he asks us if we want him to attach his dog, which is ultra energetic, We answer him that it is nice but we prefer the animals in freedom and the discussion begins.
The next day Juha will come to the tent and ask a lot of questions animated by a sincere curiosity. He lives in a village 10 km from the Russian border and maintains a very close relationship with his dog.
We lost the pictures of this meeting so we asked Juha to provide some of them. Photo: Juha Hellman.
It is hardly the month of July and the weather delight everyone.
Kolovesi Park is nearby.
It was the only relatively flat place for our tent, but with a hiking tent there are many more possibilities. There are other tents on the island but everyone keeps their distance to better enjoy its tranquility.
The tent requires 4m diameter on the ground and a little more to stretch the ropes.
The mailbox contains a "guestbook", each camp has his own and it allows to see the nationalities that pass by! And it's a majority of Finns who leave words that we do not get anything !

A day to believe that we will see a seal arise.
A day to savor the summer.
